Defence Fundraiser with Graeme Downie MP and Al Carns MP

SME4Labour was pleased to host and help organise the Defence Fundraiser with Graeme Downie MP and Al Carns MP in London. The dinner was hosted by Graeme Downie MP, with Al Carns MP as special guest, and brought together supporters and business representatives for an evening of discussion and fundraising.

The conversation explored Britain’s defence and national resilience, including how the country can prepare for cyber attacks, disruption to essential services and other emerging threats. Guests discussed the importance of cooperation between government, communities and businesses in responding to these challenges.

Small businesses and national resilience

Small businesses were a particular focus. They are part of the supply chains and local economies that communities depend on, yet many face practical challenges in preparing for disruption and protecting themselves online. The evening also considered the contribution SMEs can make to defence through manufacturing, technology, logistics and specialist services.

Sarbaz Barzinji spoke on behalf of SME4Labour, reflecting our commitment to ensuring that small businesses have a voice in discussions about the country’s future. Graeme Downie MP and Al Carns MP contributed their perspectives on defence, preparedness and the importance of bringing people together around these issues.

We thank Graeme for hosting the dinner, Al for joining us, Sarbaz for representing SME4Labour, and everyone who attended and supported the evening.
