Celebrate Excellence, Inspire Change, Shape the Future

On 4th November , we gathered for a remarkable evening under the banner of “Celebrate Excellence. Inspire Change. Shape the Future.” — a celebration of the Small and Medium-sized Enterprises that are the backbone of the UK economy, as well as the Labour politicians, activists, and business leaders who support them. The night combined recognition, inspiration, connection and hope for what’s possible when business and political purpose come together.

The gala was graciously hosted by Dawn Butler MP, whose presence set a warm, powerful tone. Dawn’s dedication to social justice and community empowerment helped frame the evening as more than a business celebration — but as a gathering rooted in values, solidarity and shared ambition.

We were privileged to hear from senior Labour voices whose words resonated deeply:

• Lucy Powell MP — delivered a stirring, powerful speech about the role of SMEs in building a fairer, more inclusive economy, the importance of entrepreneurship, and the vital contribution of small businesses to communities across Britain.

• Steve Reed MP — spoke passionately about Labour’s commitment to supporting SMEs, creating opportunity, and ensuring that economic growth is shared broadly — championing collaboration between government, business, and grassroots to shape a resilient, just future.

Their speeches brought home the central message of the night: that SMEs aren’t just economic actors — they are engines of opportunity, community anchors, and essential to delivering a Britain where prosperity and fairness go hand in hand.

What the Gala Celebrated
