Building Back Better: A Recovery that must be Big, Just and Green
Please join Labour Business and SERA for an online event to discuss a Green Recovery to the current health crisis and its economic fallout.
Taking place on Monday 29 June, 16.30 - 17.45PM, we are delighted to announce the following speakers:
Ed Miliband MP, Shadow Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy
Liam Byrne MP, Shadow Mayor for the West Midlands
Chaired by Cllr Lisa Trickett, Birmingham Councillor, Chair of the West Midlands Combined Authority Scrutiny Committee and SERA Executive Member
The event will examine how we deliver a comprehensive Green Recovery. With Liam Byrne, we will look at the importance of an at-scale regional programme including retrofitting homes, green housebuilding, green skills; and the West Midlands Green New Deal setting the region on a path to becoming the green heart of England.
Ed Miliband will talk about how we achieve the most ambitious Green Recovery and the consultation he has launched on what steps are needed.
The discussion will consider how we ‘build back better’ and achieve a Green Recovery that will involve reducing carbon emissions and securing environmental security and resilience – all with the biggest coalition for action. The event takes place on the eve of the Parliament climate lobby calling for a Green Recovery and will feed into Ed Miliband’s Green Recovery consultation, as well as the Labour Party’s wider National Policy Forum consultation programme.
