Monday, 24th March 2025 – Westminster Kitchen, London
On 24th March 2025, SME4Labour was pleased to host a well-attended breakfast roundtable with Gareth Thomas MP, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State (Minister for Services, Small Businesses and Exports) at the Department for Business and Trade, chaired by Kate Osborne MP. The event brought together a wide range of SME owners, business leaders, and representatives from key trade associations for a timely discussion on “Challenges and Opportunities Faced by SMEs in 2025.”
Held in the heart of Westminster, the session provided an invaluable platform for SME voices to be heard directly by policymakers. Attendees raised pressing issues affecting their businesses—from regulatory pressures and access to finance, to the rising costs of employment and the need for local authority reform. Gareth Thomas MP engaged openly with participants, answering questions in detail and taking careful note of the feedback shared. He spoke candidly about the Labour Party’s plans to support small businesses and reaffirmed the party’s commitment to placing SMEs at the heart of the UK’s economic recovery and growth.
Chaired with characteristic clarity and warmth by Kate Osborne MP, the conversation was dynamic and constructive. With input from sector representatives and individual entrepreneurs alike, the discussion highlighted both the resilience of the SME sector and the structural reforms needed to help it thrive.
At SME4Labour, we are proud to continue providing meaningful spaces where small business voices can be heard by those shaping policy. As the backbone of Britain’s economy, SMEs deserve a seat at the table—and we’re here to make sure they get it.
