SME4Labour Holds Annual General Meeting in Parliament
On Tuesday, 18th April, SME4Labour held its Annual General Meeting in Committee Room 6 of the Houses of Parliament.
The evening began with a warm welcome and brief introduction from Rehana Ameer, Chair of the meeting and member of SME4Labour’s Executive Committee. This was followed by opening remarks from Jack Dromey MP, Shadow Pensions Minister, who kindly hosted the event. Mr. Dromey spoke passionately about the vital role small businesses play in the economy, praised SME4Labour’s efforts, and reaffirmed the Labour Party’s commitment to championing SMEs and the self-employed.
SME4Labour Co-Chair Ibrahim Dogus then delivered the annual report, reflecting on the organisation’s work over the past year. He noted that SME4Labour had hosted approximately one event per month, connecting Labour Party representatives with small business owners and self-employed professionals. These events included high-profile gatherings in Parliament and at the Labour Party Conference.
Mr. Dogus also presented a brief summary of SME4Labour’s financial position, stating that the organisation’s finances remained in a healthy and stable condition.
Following the report, the meeting proceeded to the election of an expanded Executive Committee, consisting of 29 members. A total of 27 nominations were received, and all nominees were elected unanimously. The committee was also given a mandate to identify and appoint suitable candidates to fill the remaining vacancies.
