Having grown up helping my family's small business, I know what it's like and understand the challenges faced. Local businesses and high streets are the beating heart of our towns and cities and, in my patch Southampton Test, the majority of our brilliant businesses are SMEs. I am so pleased that our new Labour government is championing SMEs, with plans such as replacing business rates set to rebalance the playing field and breathe life into Britain's high streets once again. Huge thanks has to go to SME4Labour for their role in advocating for this vital sector and for helping us get to this point.
