As Labour sets out plans for stability and growth in our economy, I know how crucial the role of small, medium and family run businesses will be in realising this ambition. In my constituency of Glenrothes and Mid Fife, SMEs are vital not only to our local economy but to the fabric of our communities. In such a wide variety of sectors it is SMEs who are providing jobs and supporting community initiatives. It is important that on a national level Labour understands the priorities of SMEs so they can create a policy framework which supports them to succeed and grow. It is also important for MPs and other Labour representatives to have strong links with SMEs in their areas. This is why SME4Labour has such an important role for the Labour and trade union movement.
