It is a pleasure to attend the Annual SME4Labour Gala Dinner and Labour Excellence Awards. SMEs are the bedrock employers across the UK employing nearly half of the total workforce and making up over 99% of the business population. As a Member of Parliament, I am acutely aware of the number of SMEs in my Kilmarnock and Loudoun constituency and their importance, not only because of the employment they offer, but also the services they provide to my constituents. I work closely with many of those SMEs to offer them support and representation and follow the excellent model of SME4Labour in doing so.
