Small and Medium Enterprises are the backbone of the Welsh economy, supporting our villages, town and cities, creating jobs and driving growth to ensure that our high streets survive.
As we enter a new era for the relationship between Westminster and the Senedd, following Labour’s historic victory in the summer, we can look to build on the many successes of the Welsh Labour Government in supporting our SMEs through initiatives such as the Development Bank of Wales.
Our local authorities in Wales work closely with our SMEs through various town centre forums such as Business Improvement Districts, and these provide invaluable forums to collaborate on initiatives and drive forward regeneration projects.
In my own County of Rhondda Cynon Taf we are bucking the trend in terms of business births and deaths, spearheaded by joined up working between the Council, businesses and Welsh Government.
SME4Labour play a crucial role in building relationships between the sector and the Party, allowing the priorities and needs of our SMEs to be fed back in to the policymaking decisions that help to deliver our economic goals.
