Building Britain's Future Together: An Exclusive Reception for SME4Labour Members and Supporters

  • Date: October 29, 2025 at 18:00 - 8pm
  • Location: Jubilee Room, Houses of Parliament, St Margaret St, London, SW1A 0AA SW1A 0AA

SME4Labour welcomed members to an inspiring and forward-looking evening on 29 October for Building Britain’s Future — a special reception dedicated to exploring how small and medium-sized enterprises can help shape the next chapter of Britain’s economic story. This exclusive members-only gathering provided a unique space to connect with colleagues, engage directly with Labour voices in Parliament, and reflect on the pivotal role SMEs play in driving innovation, creating good jobs, and building resilient communities.

The event was hosted by Danny Beales MP, elected in 2024 to represent Uxbridge and South Ruislip. Drawing on his background in housing, regeneration and public service, Danny delivered an energising speech that underscored Labour’s priorities for SMEs. He spoke passionately about his lifelong commitment to community development and fairness — and about how SMEs must be at the centre of a dynamic, inclusive economy where opportunity reaches every corner of the country. Danny emphasised Labour’s determination to work in genuine partnership with small businesses as co-creators of Britain’s future prosperity.

The evening also featured powerful contributions from:

  • Ibrahim Dogus, Founder of SME4Labour
Ibrahim spoke with conviction about SME4Labour’s mission to give small and medium-sized businesses a strong voice at the heart of our politics. He highlighted how SMEs are not just economic actors, but community anchors — and how strengthening their relationship with Labour is vital as the country prepares for a new era of growth built on collaboration, fairness and opportunity.

  • Mike Harris, CEO of 89up
Mike brought an incisive and inspiring perspective on the challenges and possibilities facing SMEs today. His remarks celebrated the resilience, creativity and ambition that define Britain’s small businesses, and he emphasised the importance of bringing business leaders and policymakers together to shape practical, forward-looking solutions.

Building Britain’s Future — Together

Across the room, there was a shared sense of momentum and ambition.
The event reinforced core themes:

  • SMEs are central to Britain’s economic future, driving innovation, productivity and local prosperity.

  • A Labour government must work hand-in-hand with business, listening, collaborating, and building policies shaped by those on the front line of the economy.

  • Partnership is the path to a fairer, more dynamic Britain, where growth is inclusive and every community benefits.

To further that spirit of collaboration, the evening closed with an engaging interactive session, a  “Meet & Pitch”, where attendees were invited to give 60-second introductions of their business, organisation or project. This lively exchange encouraged networking, sparked new ideas, and highlighted the breadth of innovation, talent and ambition within the SME4Labour membership.

The Building Britain’s Future reception strengthened the ties between SME4Labour members and the Labour Party, sending a clear message: when policymakers and small businesses come together, Britain’s future becomes brighter, more hopeful and more ambitious.
