Dawn Butler MP

Dawn Butler became member of the parliament in 2015 for Brent Central. 

She was appointed Shadow Minister for Diverse Communities by Jeremy Corbyn in 2016. Last August, she was appointed Shadow Minister for Women and Equalities. Before starting to her work in the Labour Party, she worked as an adviser to the previous mayor of London, Ken Livingstone. Ms Butler was awarded MP of the Year in the 2009 Women in Public Life award ceremony. She also became the first black woman to speak from the Dispatch Box in the House of Commons in 2009.
